About Seaside Spine Specialists

Welcome to Seaside Spine Specialists! We are a group of neurosurgeons using the latest spinal technologies available to provide state-of-the-art and minimally invasive surgical solutions. This includes using the latest spinal robotic technology as well as intraoperative CT scanning. Together, we will work closely to find a solution for your spinal pain problem. We can cover the most complex problems as well as simple pain conditions which may not even require surgery.

We operate at several different facilities, including Summerville Medical Center, East Cooper Medical Center, Trident Medical Center, as well as several Roper facilities. For same-day surgeries, we operate at the Center for Advanced Surgery, which is located on our medical campus directly across from our office.

At Seaside Spine Specialists, our treatment process always begins with the least invasive option. This often includes physical therapy and epidural steroid injections (ESI) . After that, and depending on what your MRI shows, we might offer you rhizotomy. Rhizotomy is also known as RFA (Radio Frequency Ablation). These two treatments, ESI and RFA, are delivered in an office setting using a needle under X-ray guidance.

If those interventions are not helpful, then our seasoned practitioners at Seaside Spine Specialists will offer more sophisticated treatment options tailored to your unique pain condition. For Dr. DAgostino, it comes down to offering you the least invasive procedure that is most likely to provide the greatest likelihood of success.

Dr. DAgostino has trained with the world premiere spine surgeons and can offer you the most advanced and minimally invasive spinal technologies available. Through his collaboration with the Center for Advanced Surgery, Charleston’s most modern surgery center , he can offer a growing number of same-day surgical procedures.

At Seaside Spine Specialists we take pride in offering the latest technologies. This allows us to custom fit our surgical recommendation to your unique situation. Dr. DAgostino and his team take many factors into consideration when offering you a treatment option. For example, if you have already had a prior fusion surgery with screws and rods, then we will need to consider how our surgery would integrate with your prior surgery. We have many options that will allow for integration without the need to significantly affect your surgical site. This results in a quicker, less painful, recovery.

Dr. DAgostino and his team are also very proud of the fact that they performed the first robotic surgery to South Carolina. Other hospitals have followed our lead since we introduced the Globus ExcelsiusGPS robot back in 2018. Dr. DAgostino holds the local record for most robotic spine surgeries performed - well over 500 at this point!

Dr. DAgostino always reminds his patients that the spine is a complex structure. What is done in one part of the spine will affect other parts. This is why it is extremely important that you select a surgeon that is well versed in multiple different approaches to the spine. This is the only way you can be sure that all options are being considered. Our patients take comfort in knowing that we can perform a full spectrum of minimally invasive surgeries that may not be available to you at other practices. This is exactly what Dr. DAgostino and his team at Seaside Spine Specialists are most proud of - our ability to offer so many different options to treat your spinal condition.

"Our mission, simply stated, is to identify the least invasive solution that is most likely to give you the greatest pain relief."
